January-March 2011

Yes, it is now the month of April, and yes, my last post was done in December! Clearly I have gotten very behind on this poor little blog. January, February, and March, in my opinion, were both very busy, and very UN-eventful- if that makes any sense! We had a few exciting times in between the lull of the day to day, so here is a recap for you! To keep this post from being too long it will mostly consist of pictures :)

Obviously, a pregnant belly is going to grow considerably in three months time, so here's a belly update. This is me at 24 weeks (6 months.)

Baby belly at 29 weeks (7 months.)

Latest baby belly picture- 32 weeks (8 months.)

Here is Cory in January, putting together our son's crib.

Our son's completed room! In February we officially chose the name, Liam Wellington Barnhart. "Liam" is a name I have always liked, and "Wellington" is Cory's middle name, and has been used as the middle name for the first born male in the Barnhart family I believe 16 or so times now.

Cory and our sweet, Lexi.

On March 12th, Cory and our friends, Derek and Aimee Phipps, ran in the St. Patrick's Day 5k race. Cory has been enjoying getting back into running lately and hopes to continue throughout the summer.

Also on March 12th, we celebrated my baby shower! Cory's mom and sister, Hannah, flew out for the shower, which was a treat! I was blessed with so many wonderful gifts from wonderful friends!

We made sure to schedule the shower during my sister's spring break so that she could attend. Here is my Mom, Sister, and I.

My big surprise was my Grandma flying in from Louisiana the night before my shower! My Mom and Grandma had been scheming for months without my knowledge. How wonderful it was to have her there!

Later that night Cory and I, along with Donna, Hannah, and Cory's friend Brian, went to our favorite new Italian buffet, Cinzetti's, to kick off celebrating Cory's birthday, which was the next day.

Sunday, March 13th was Cory's 25th Birthday! After evening services we had some friends over to celebrate with us.

We bought Cory this, "I'm 25" necklace, but were only able to convince him to wear it long enough for ONE picture. :)

Cory and his birthday cakes.

The last event to take place since my last post, occurred just a week and a half ago. Toward the beginning of March, my Grandpa was diagnosed with bone cancer. He originally went to the hospital for some stomach pain he was having, but through multiple tests, cancer was found. Within just a matter of a couple weeks we learned that the cancer was not solely in his hip bone, but also in his lung, his liver, and finally, in his brain. Saturday, March 26th, (only about a month after discovering he had cancer,) he passed away in his sleep. He was only 68 years old, and still had such a vibrant spirit. Though we weren't ready for him to go, we know that there is beauty among all the sadness. My mom was able to visit him and spend the last two weeks of his life with him, and I know she will forever cherish those two weeks. He had a loving wife that never left his side, and he was able to tell her how much he loved her and say goodbye before he left. My Grandpa lived his life for his Savior, and we have no doubt that he is with God right now. It's hard to be angry when we know that our whole purpose in life is to show God whether or not we chose to follow Him, and then to die so that we can be with Him. It is in death that God's wondrous plan is perfected.

Here is Grandpa and my Grandma Barb, taken a little under a year ago.

So that's it for the Barnhart family in the last three months! I will do my best to keep up with our blog from now on, but with a baby on his way in about seven weeks, I can't make any promises! :)
